Global Tiger Day was observed in several regions of the world yesterday(29th July). According to some 2023 reports, Jim Corbett National Park has become the home of the highest number of tigers when compared to the majority of India's national parks. More than eight Indian national parks combined have fewer tigers than Corbett National Park, which is very shocking and encouraging for corbett.
India has made significant efforts in tiger conservation and habitat protection, resulting in an increase in tiger numbers over the past few years. According to the survey, the number of tigers in Jim Corbett is higher due to variables such as the forest, living environment, and weather. All of these variables contribute to tiger population growth. The area of Corbett is 1288 sq km, which allows tigers to choose their territory, and every 4-5 km, you will encounter a tiger, which is incredible.
In 2006, India launched a nationwide tiger conservation program called 'Project Tiger', which aimed to protect the endangered Bengal tigers and their habitats. Under this initiative, tiger reserves were established in various parts of the country to provide a safe and protected environment for this big cat species. Since 2006, the number of tigers in India has just increased. This indicates a nearly doubling of the tiger numbers in just 16 years, showcasing the success of conservation efforts; which is good news not only for India but for everyone because it shows that tiger conservation efforts are progressing.
